Kim M. Simpson, MA

Kim M. Simpson has served as Senior Consultant to the NASW Foundation since 2014. She is a Project Manager, providing strategic planning and implementation on a wide array of communications and fundraising projects. Since 2021, she has been Communications Lead on a $3.3 million NASW / UT Austin, CDC-funded COVID-19 Vaccine Confidence grant, managing national communications, marketing, and advertising for NASW and NASW Foundation. Between 2001 and 2003, she assisted in planning, creation, and official launch of the NASW Foundation. She also serves as a Senior Consultant to NASW on communications and marketing initiatives (including Marketing Project Manager for the NASW Press since 2018) and was a Co-Creator (writer, narrator, and interviewer/host) of NASW Social Work Talks Podcast (2017-2018). 

The creator and owner of For The Record Photography and Public Affairs, Inc. for more than 20 years, she specializes in strategic communications, fundraising, event planning, marketing, and photography for a diverse client list that has included Members of Congress, government, nonprofit organizations, associations, and corporations, in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Region.

In a career that spans more than 35 years in communications, public affairs, and journalism, Kim also served in senior-level Federal Government positions including Chief of Staff and District Director for Members of Congress; and as a Political Appointee in communications and professional staff positions for the William J. Clinton Administration at the White House and the Office of Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon.  A former State Government / Political Reporter, she worked for television and radio stations in the Midwest.  She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and a Master of Arts Degree in Public Affairs Reporting from the University of Illinois-Springfield.  In a pro bono capacity, she serves as an advocate, donor, and volunteer for organizations that promote animal welfare and seek to end breast cancer.
