Q: What's the National Social Worker Finder?
A: As part of the national social work public education campaign,
NASW is creating a consumer Web site that promotes the breadth and
depth of social work practice. The new site, http://www.helpstartshere.org/,
will be widely promoted to the public in August 2005. It will offer
valuable advice and resources from professional social workers on
current consumer-interest topics, such as depression, domestic violence,
end-of-life care, and much more. An important feature of this new
site is a user-friendly social worker search tool.
Q: Why should I be listed in the National Social Worker
Finder?
A: What better way to showcase the expertise of social workers than
by providing the most comprehensive "Find a Social Worker" tool available.
By listing now, you will be part of a comprehensive resource that
helps consumers, hospitals, schools, physicians and others find social
work services easily. The direct benefit for you and your practice/organization
is an increase in quality referrals. People looking for professionals
with precisely your skills, training and expertise will be able to
find you quickly online.
Q: What is the fee to list in the new National Social Worker
Finder?
A: The introductory first year listing fee is only $25. If you are
already listed in the NASW Register of Clinical Social Workers (you
must hold a current QCSW),
your registration fee is FREE. In addition, when
people search for social workers in your area on the new consumer
Web site, your listing gets premier placement.
To participate in the Clinical Register, you must obtain
a Qualified Clinical Social Worker (QCSW)
credential. To learn more, click

Q: How do I get listed in the National Social Worker Finder?
A: Click
here to list your information; registration
takes about 20 minutes. Please have your license number and
credit card available. If you need further assistance, call
HelpPRO at 800-652-0155. NASW is working in collaboration
with HelpPRO, an online referral service based in Massachusetts,
to develop the new search tool. A professional social worker
and long-time NASW member owns the service.
Q: What type of practice information can I list in the National
Social Worker Finder?
A: In addition to contact information, credentials, areas of expertise,
and ages and populations served, you can include
- Hours of operation
- Insurance and other payment options
- Names of groups offered
- Languages spoken
