NASW Foundation Sponsors Voice Awards

The NASW Foundation, among other groups, was a sponsor of the VOICE Awards which honors individuals who have shown leadership in their communities to promote understanding and support for those with mental health problems. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) honored those in the entertainment industry who incorporate accurate and respectful depictions of people who have mental illnesses. PE Campaign Co-Chair Suzanne Dworak-Peck attended the ceremony, along with other NASW California members. She notes: “We know that accurate depictions of mental illness and mental health treatment in the entertainment industry can greatly improve the public’s understanding about social work services and their clients.”

NASW California Chapter members Joani Diamond, Robin Siegal, Suzanne Dworak-Peck and Eleanor Belser attend the VOICE Awards with actress Ruta Lee, center.
