NASW Social Work Pioneers®
Sarah Grace Hudspeth
Sarah Hudspeth was born on January 11, 1913. She
received her BS in Elementary Education from Auburn in 1938, and her MSW from Tulane
University in 1947.
Ms. Hudspeth was a charter member of the Academy of Certified Social
Workers. She was a medical social worker with the American Red Cross during World War II.
She was the first medical social worker in Veterans Administration Hospitals in the South.
