Ruth Fizdale Program Guidelines

The Ruth Fizdale Program underwrites research projects that link practice and policy issues with relevant social issues. The primary goal is to facilitate effective service delivery.  The program provides opportunities for NASW Chapters to conduct pilot research projects targeted to a specific emerging issue. These pilot projects then may serve as cornerstones for developing more comprehensive research project.

Grant Objectives

Primary grant objectives are to:

  • support larger research projects that target a specific, developing issue in social policy;
  • enhance existing human service delivery systems; and,
  • contribute to community life.

Application Requirements

Ruth Fizdale grant funds may be used for needs assessment, initial research findings, and/or as a supplement to ongoing research if a new or different component is added. This is a one-time grant award.

Application requirements include:

  • fact sheet (one-page) that provides the name of NASW Chapter, Project Director/Executive Director, supporting team members, mailing address, email address, phone number, and fax number;
  • proposal summary (up to three pages, double-spaced) that outlines 1) objectives of project; 2) statement of relevance and significance; 3) project design and methodology; 4) itemized budget;  5) expected completion date; and,
  • a final report that contains an evaluation upon completion of the grant cycle.
