Robert C. Arnold, MPS

As Director of the NASW Foundation and Director of Development at the National Association of Social Workers since 2001, Bob Arnold oversees charitable and educational non-dues revenue and coordinates closely with other members of NASW’s Senior Management Team.  He and Foundation staff work with NASW’s 55 Chapters to plan, implement, and coordinate fundraising activities at the national and local levels and work with corporations, foundations, individuals, federal and state government agencies, and partner organizations.  He also oversees and manages grants and contracts. The Foundation raises about $2M annually to support social work.  Bob and Assistant Director, Susan Rubin, also manage NASW’s international programs and activities.

During his 30 years of advancement experience, Bob also has been a Major Gifts Officer for Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Regional Director for Brown University, Regional Director of Advancement for Prison Fellowship Ministries, Director of Major Gifts for the National Academy of Engineering, and Vice President of The Sheridan Group (a fundraising consulting firm).  He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from Houghton College and his Masters Degree in Communication from Cornell University.  Bob’s community and nonprofit volunteer activities include: Board Member, International Council on Social Welfare – U.S.; Director, International Social Development Center; Alternate Delegate, International Federation of Social Workers; and member, Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Association Foundation Group.
